Join a unique professional learning experience designed specifically for choral educators and conductors working with male voices. Whether you are already directing choirs or looking to begin that journey, this is an opportunity to observe, learn, reflect and gain valuable tools you can immediately take back to your own ensemble.

Your registration includes:
       · Tickets to Showcase Concerts (please note ticket to QPAC concert July 5 not included)
       · Rehearsal observations across treble, youth and adult male choir settings
       · Professional Development sessions

Two Featured Sessions - “How Do You Do Male Choirs?”

     Practical and engaging sessions exploring:
               · Vocal development in male singers
               · Rehearsal techniques and troubleshooting
               · Building confidence and community
               · Repertoire and programming ideas
               · Supporting singers through voice change
      
     Session 1: Dr Robert Stewart - Working in a co-educational P-12 school setting
     Session 2: Naomi Heyden & Timothy Mallis - Working in an all boy community based setting for boys to men

SCHEDULE:
Friday 3 July - 10:45am – 8:30pm
          · Registration and welcome
          · PD Session with Dr Robert Stewart
          · Lunchtime concert
          · Rehearsal observations
          · Evening concert

Saturday 4 July - 8:45am - Evening
          · Morning rehearsal observations
          · PD Session with Timothy Mallis and Naomi Heyden
          · Lunchtime concert
          · Massed rehearsal observation of Pemulwuy Massed Choir
          · Evening concert * (TBC)


Optional experience - PD participants may sign up for a 30-minute one-on-one conducting session with Dr Bob Stewart on the Friday or Saturday. There are potentially 5 sessions available and registrants just register that they are keen. Payment for these sessions will be invoiced separately. Each session will be $60.

  • Thank you for registering for Voices of Birralee's Professional Development Program.

    Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. If you do not understand, or do not accept, any or all of the terms or conditions, please contact Voices of Birralee on contact@birralee.org or 07 3367 1001.

    1. I confirm that I have requested Voices of Birralee to enrol myself for the Professional Development Program and will pay all registration fees associated with the Program. I acknowledge that the Program is based on minimum numbers and if these are not achieved I will expect a full refund.
     
    2. I understand that by being part of the Professional Development Program that videos and photos maybe taken and hereby give my consent to having my photograph/video and these images maybe used in Voices of Birralee's marketing and promotional material for Professional Development Programs.

    3. I understand that all resources shared with me on the Professional Development Program are for educational purposes and that I will not reproduce any part of these resources without seeking permission from the presenters and Voices of Birralee.

    4. I agree that I will stay away from the Program if unwell and that a partial refund will be offered depending when the absence occurs. If the sessions are cancelled by Voices of Birralee a full refund will apply.

    5. I acknowledge and agree that subject to law, Voices of Birralee does not accept any liability for personal injury, property damage or loss sustained by participant at the Program (except in the case where such liability is a direct consequence of a negligent act or omission of Voices of Birralee and its staff).

    6. I acknowledge that Voices of Birralee is committed to the safety, wellbeing, participation and empowerment of children and young people in accordance with the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women. Voices of Birralee has zero tolerance of child abuse or harm.

    7. I acknowledge that in order for Voices of Birralee to provide the Programs, it is necessary for me to provide personal information. Voices of Birralee takes privacy seriously. We will at all times collect, store, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles.
